1. Dad to go on his CSI course
Done! He went away for four weeks at the beginning of the year, and came back a full CSI – qualified to work on all major crime scenes, up to and including murder! He also got transferred from NottinghamCity up to Mansfield: and since then has worked on….. no murders at all. Mostly just the same burglaries, assaults and car crime as he’s been doing for the past nine years or so! But at least he gets paid more to do it!
2. Get Tom through his exams and of to Uni.
Done! After a lot of hard work, (mostly by Annie in running him round the country to Uni open days), he settled on BournemouthUniversity as first choice – that being the place to go for the course he wanted (CGI / computer graphics). After that it was just a matter of doing well enough in his exams…. Which he did! So now he’s installed at Bournemouth, enjoying the course and student life (of which the less said the better). And coping with the ups and downs in a mature and responsible manner (‘Mum – my computers blown up!’) (True!).
3. Get Annie through the last bit of her course, and started as a Deacon.
Done! It’s been a long hard slog over the last few years, but she finished with all essays completed on time, and graduated with merit! (She’d have preferred with chocolate, but you take what you can get!). So now it’s Deacon Annie!
4. Move family.
Done! We actually moved in at the end of August. Things were a bit chaotic to start with – there was a lot of work being done to the house, and for the first few weeks the place was full of workmen! And of course, there was the matter of finding our way round a new area: Annie got a sat-nav for her birthday, which helped! But we’re pretty well settled in now. And Blaze loves all the new walks – new smells – and a big new garden!
5. Get Matt and Andy settled in to new schools.
Done! It was a bit of a headache, and involved a lot more running around and visiting places for Annie – but we got them both in at schools we’re happy with and they’re happy with. So far, the schools have been happy with them!
6. Come up with a good idea for the annual family letter.
Sorry –this was the best I could manage. Better luck next year!
