World-Shaking News!
ANOTHER TREMBLING ON THE WAY!
Is the world ready? Ask worried parents.
The big news of the year is that Paul and Annie are expecting a new arrival - e.t.a. March 2000. And staff at Nottingham’s City Hospital have confirmed that it’s another boy - to be named Andrew Paul. Though they had hoped for a little girl, Paul and Annie are ‘thrilled and delighted’ with the prospect of another lad. Tom is reported to be quite pleased as well, but Matthew is taking time to come round to the idea. On first being interviewed, he stated quite clearly ‘Don’t want a brother!’ However, with persuasion, he’s becoming more positive!
Matthew William’s Words of Wisdom
Picture the scene:
Dad and Matt are reading an alphabet book.
Unfortunately, the picture of a ball (for ‘B’) is
missing - instead, there’s the picture for ‘C’.
Which leads to the following surreal conversation:
Dad: “B is for…?”
Matt: “Cat!”
Dad: “No - it’s something that bounces up and down.
Matt: “Kangaroo.”
Dad: “No - something you play with that
bounces up and down.”
Matt: “I haven’t got a Kangaroo!”
At which point, we moved on to ‘D’
Top Academic Honours for Thomas!
Tom continues to do very well in his school work, consistently coming top or near top in spelling tests, etc. Recently he won a prize for being first to find out the name of the Roman god of thunder.
He’s also doing well in sport, and classmates have nicknamed him ‘Little Pele’ for his football skills (he says!).
Another regular activity is Cub Scouts on Monday night. Having moved up from the Beavers this year, he’s already got two badges: one was for home-help, which involved things like tidying his room. His parents noted that this did not continue after he’d got his badge!
A recent highlight at Cubs was a visit to a local Police Station. The boys were all released, despite pleas from their parents.
CHURCH LIFE
The Youth Group that Annie had been running has finished: instead she’s very involved in the Sunday School. There is however, a serious shortage of leaders, and it’s possible that it will have to close while Annie’s on maternity leave. That would be sad, as there are a lot of youngsters involved in it at present.Your prayers for this would be valued!
Paul continues to preach regularly, and has recently become a Church Steward. He feels that this increasing commitment to the local church is the Lord’s leading at present.
