Yearning Blue is the colour of distant hills.  It's the colour of imagination.

It's also a line from one of my poems - 'The View from the Hilltop' - which, as near as I can, sums up who I am and why I write.

In a nutshell - I'm a former Crime Scene Investigator turned Crime Writer.

I'm the boy who was enthralled by 'The Hobbit' when a teacher read it to the class, and who was inspired by that to become a writer of Fantasy.

I'm the teenager who discovered Science Fiction in the school library, and who is now a Science Fiction writer.

I'm the father who wrote stories for his sons, and the husband who wrote poems for his wife.

I'm a day dreamer who's never stopped dreaming.  I just write it down to share.

On this site you can find out (if you wish!) more about me, and more about my writing and publications, along with some samples of my work.  You can also read my Blog, 'The Reality Escape Committee'.

Cover Reveal! The Empire Of Silence: It's past is hidden, it's future is threatened, and I'm hoping to publish it this autumn!

It's been a long time coming.  I published the first volume - 'The Empress's Lover - in 2013.  It started off as a fantasy / romance for my wife: I had no plans then for another book, let alone a trilogy.  But the Empire stayed in my mind.  There was more to be said about it, more story to be told, so 'The Hidden Libraries' followed in 2021.  However, it still wasn't complete until I'd written 'The Fortress of Silence'.

Now, finally, the whole story is told, and the entire trilogy is on the verge of publication with these stunning covers, the joint work of artist Joanna Bras-Goldberg and cover designer Liz Carter.

For more information - and a sneak preview of 'The Fortress of Silence' - take a look at my 'Empire of Silence' section.
